How Each Enneagram Subtype Uses the Four Core Emotions
Do you tend to be more Glad, Sad, Mad, or Anxious?
Have you ever wondered what emotions seem to come up for you more than others?
Maybe youβre a Body Type and are more attuned to anger.
Or perhaps youβre a Head Type and tend to intellectualize your emotions instead of letting yourself feel them.
Or maybe youβre a Heart Type and experience ALL the emotions.
We all experience the four core emotions to some degree:
Anger π‘
Sadness π
Fear π¨
Happiness π
We naturally seem to be more attuned to one or two of these emotions more than the others.
We unconsciously push away some of these emotions to get on with our everyday lives.
But pushing away feelings really doesnβt help anyone, least of all ourselves.
Using The Feelings Wheel to Understand Your Emotions Better
Thereβs a great resource therapists often like to use called The Feelings Wheel (sometimes called the Emotions Wheel.
The Feelings Wheel goes into more detail about the four core emotions (plus surprised, disgusted, and bad on this particular wheel model) and the secondary and tertiary emotions to the core feeling.
It's not enough to say we're angry, sad, afraid, or happy about something. Getting down to the how and why can give us so much more information about our emotions at any given moment.
It's perfectly okay to let ourselves feel what we're feeling, learn from that feeling, and then let it go.
